Joint Latvian National Archive Information System
Diatom Enterprises provided custom development services as a subcontractor to RIX Technologies for VVAIS, a nationwide Latvian government archive system.
The project aimed to create a unified national archives information system to manage, store, and provide access to state and local government documents, historical records, and electronic data.
Project Overview
The VVAIS project integrates multiple archival subsystems, including historical archives, government archives, and cinema and photo documentation archives. The system ensures public access to information while maintaining tiered access for internal staff.
Key features include quick search through folders and files, versatile filtering, and logical interfaces with external systems such as IVIS, Horizon, time stamp services, and certification systems. Approximately 450 computers across Latvian archives are potentially used to operate VVAIS.
