DiBi – Digital Library of Latvian National Library
Diatom Enterprises contributed to the digitization of collections for the Latvian National Library, making cultural, historical, and informative materials accessible online.
The project laid the foundation for uniform processing, storage, and public access to digitized materials, including books, newspapers, pictures, maps, sheet music, and audio recordings.
Project Overview
The DiBi project enabled online access to digitized collections of the Latvian National Library and similar organizations. The initial phase involved scanning and digitizing 75,000 pages, and the second stage, supported by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), will digitize and process 3,500,000 pages.
The platform also provides electronic article delivery, electronic catalogues, and database services available 24/7. Public access is ensured to the archives of approximately 3,000 Latvian cultural and historical internet sites, and 600,000 records of national editions have been digitized and published in the National Electronic Database.
