Electronic Signature Project for the Latvian Government
Diatom Enterprises participated as a subcontractor for Microsoft Latvia in the development of an Electronic Signature system for the Latvian Government.
The project enables individuals and companies across Latvia to securely create, sign, verify, and archive electronic documents, supporting digital public services and online identification.
Project Overview
The Electronic Signature project was developed to provide a secure and legally compliant way for individuals and businesses to use electronic signatures when interacting with government institutions and digital services.
The public launch of the service took place in September 2006.
The solution is based on smart card technology and electronic certificates that verify identity and enable secure document signing, authentication, and archiving. The system supports both private individuals and companies, allowing them to use electronic signatures for public services, self-service portals, and online banking.
